Master Of Disaster - John Hiatt - Master Of Disaster (SACD, Album)

 · facebook. twitter. tumblr. John Hiatt has often wavered back and forth between his instincts as a rocker and a more measured singer/songwriter bent, and after the rowdy guitar-fueled blues-rock of 's Beneath This Gruff Exterior, it should come as no great surprise that Hiatt toned things down a bit for his next album, 's Master of Disaster. Produced by Jim Dickinson, with his sons Luther Dickinson and Cody Dickinson /10().

This album is a cross between the sonics of a David Elias SACD and a Bob Dylanesque voice. John voice is gravelly but not piercing. Songs and arrangements similar to the new David Elias album.

 · Hiatt has a delightful capacity for capturing the beauty of Americana; MASTER OF DISASTER provides a sampler of a variety of music that's truly American. Beautiful folk, like the wistful "Howlin' Down The Cumberland" is balanced with rockers like the title cut and the anguished "Love's Not Where We Thought We Left It," as good an example of the stripped down sound of rock in its /5(99).

 · I love this album. It's a bit odd in places, but John Hiatt manages to make that a plus rather than a minus. Solid fron the first song to the last, I skip nothing on this masterful effort of an album. Master of Disaster is an All-American gem/5(99).
